The Grey Highlands Gran Fondo, presented by J.D. Smith Logistics Solutions, begins and ends in the charming Village of Markdale—just 150 km north of Toronto along Hwy 10. Riders will journey through the stunning landscapes of Grey Highlands, passing through Walter’s Falls, Rocklyn, Bognor, and Meaford, with breathtaking views of the Beaver Valley along the way.

Choose from four scenic routes:
🚴 26K – A fun, family-friendly ride, perfect for all skill levels.
🚴 53K – A great option for intermediate riders looking for a more challenging terrain through rolling scenic countryside.
🚴 77K – A rewarding challenge for intermediate cyclists, featuring the climb up Scotch Mountain.
🚴 124K – Designed for experienced riders, this route will test your endurance with the ascent of the Epping Main Climb.

Each route showcases quiet rural roads, rolling terrain, and spectacular vistas at every turn—a true cyclist’s paradise!

This Ontario Cycling-sanctioned event is limited to 500 riders, so secure your spot early! Join us for an unforgettable ride and help raise funds to equip Markdale Hospital.

Breve Fondo 26k

Our 26k “Breve Fondo” gives riders a wee taste of Grey Highlands cycling!  The Breve leaves Markdale via Grey Road 12.  After a right turn onto Grey Road 30, the route heads east and then continues south at Hutchinson’s Corners on Grey Road 30 through Vandeleur to East Back Line, returning north through beautiful rolling farmland.  A left turn back onto Grey Road 12 returns riders to Markdale and the Start/Finish area.  An Aid Station is located at Vandeleur Park.

Mezzo Fondo 53k

Our 53k “Mezzo Fondo” route is new for 2025. It heads east of Markdale via Grey Road 12 continuing north to Goring.  Turning right, riders proceed east on Grey Road 12 and 32 to Rocklyn, turning south on the 7th line. The Mezzo continues south at Hutchinson’s Corners on Grey Road 30 through Vandeleur to East Back Line, returning north through beautiful rolling farmland. A left turn back onto Grey Road 12 returns riders to Markdale and the Start/Finish area. Aid Stations are located at Rocklyn Arena and Vandeleur Park.

Medio Fondo 77k

Our 77k “Medio Fondo” heads east of Markdale via Grey Road 12, continuing north to Goring, turning left onto SR 22A. A right turn on the Euphrasia-Holland Townline brings riders north into Walter’s Falls. The route continues on 29 SR down through Bognor to Grey Road 18. The route heads east via the Gerald Shortt Parkway and SR 10 to Grey Road 12. The Medio continues right, up the challenging Scotch Mountain climb. At Temple Hill, the route heads east on Grey Rd. 32 to Rocklyn,  then turns south on the 7th Line. At Hutchinson’s Corners, riders turn right onto Grey Road 30 and head back west to Grey Road 12, returning to Markdale and the Start/Finish area. Aid Stations are located at the Walter’s Falls Community Centre and Rocklyn Arena.

Gran Fondo 124k

Our 124k “Gran Fondo” route offers the very best of Grey Highlands cycling!  It shares the route with the Medio Fondo through Walter’s Falls and Bognor, heading east to Grey Road 12. The route then continues south and east towards Meaford on Grey Road 12 – turning right onto the 7th line.  The Gran heads south and east to Thornbury via the 7th Line and SR 4. After a right turn onto Napier Street in Thornbury, the route continues right again onto Grey Rd. 13  Proceeding south and west through Clarksburg and Heathcote, the Gran heads into the Beaver Valley.  It then turns north onto Grey Rd 7, climbing out of the valley to Epping.  The Gran turns west on SR 22b to Rocklyn, heading south on the 7th Line to Hutchinson’s Corners. Here it turns right onto Grey Rd. 30 heading back west to Grey Road 12, returning to Markdale and the Start/Finish area.  Aid Stations are located at Walter’s Falls Community Centre, Riverside Centre, Heathcote Park, Rocklyn Arena.

KOM/QOM Challenge!

Be crowned Grey Highlands Gran Fondo King or Queen of the Mountain for a whole year! Paid and free Strava subscribers riding our Medio or Gran Fondo routes will receive a segment time on Strava’s Scotch Mountain Climb or Epping Main Climb segments if ride data is uploaded. Segment times for the day will be reviewed at 2:00 pm on the day of the Gran Fondo. Prizes will be awarded for the fastest male (KOM) and fastest female (QOM) for each segment. In the unlikely event of a tie, KOM/QOM will be awarded to the older participant. Winners will be posted to the website following the Gran Fondo​.
