The Grey Highlands Gran Fondo, presented by J.D. Smith Logistics Solutions, begins and ends in the charming Village of Markdale—just 150 km north of Toronto along Hwy 10. Riders will journey through the stunning landscapes of Grey Highlands, passing through Walter’s Falls, Massie, Bognor, and Meaford, with breathtaking views of the Beaver Valley along the way.
Choose from four scenic routes:
🚴 26K – A fun, family-friendly ride, perfect for all skill levels.
🚴 53K – A great option for intermediate riders looking for more challenge, with a mostly flat route and scenic countryside.
🚴 77K – A rewarding challenge for intermediate cyclists, featuring the climb up Scotch Mountain Climb.
🚴 124K – Designed for experienced riders, this route will test your endurance with the ascent of Epping Main Climb.
Each route showcases quiet rural roads, rolling terrain, and spectacular vistas at every turn—a true cyclist’s paradise!

This year’s ride will go towards urgently needed equipment
This year, the Grey Highlands Gran Fondo’s fundraising goal is $80,000. Fundraising dollars will go towards urgently needed equipment for our Emergency Department here at the Brightshores Markdale Hospital. These are:
INFANT WARMER
This specialized “bed” for newborns are designed to regulate and maintain body temperature for our smallest patients. This “Giraffe” Infant Warmer provides consistent, focused heat for newborns requiring extended care, allowing critical warmth to be maintained even during procedures like x-rays or surgeries.
HYPO/HYPERTHERMIA UNIT
The human body operates within a narrow temperature range and can be adversely affected by numerous medical and environmental causes such as exposure to extreme heat or cold, infections, certain tumors, dehydration to name a few. In such cases, the immediate medical intervention of a Hypo/Hyperthemia unit is needed to save lives.
VITAL SIGNS MACHINE
If you have ever been to a hospital, you have seen one! EVERY patient will be assessed using a vital signs monitor. It tracks key health indicators, and allows healthcare professionals to assess and identify potential problems by monitoring fluctuations in vital signs. These new machines offer enhanced portability, longer battery life and seamless integration with patient charts and are absolutely imperative for routine patient care.

Markdale Hospital
The 68,000 square foot facility offers 24/7 Emergency Department care, a full Diagnostic Imaging Department, Ambulatory Care, Physiotherapy, full Laboratory services, as well as four Ambulance Bays. But with that comes the need for funding. Medical equipment is ever-changing, and we must ensure our equipment remains up to date. With the community responsible for 100% of all costs for furniture, fixtures, and equipment, fundraisers such as our Gran Fondo are IMPERATIVE to ensure that our staff have what they need to provide superior health care close to home.
